Preferred vendors

Get found by the people already building.

Owners on CoBuild are running live projects with budgets, schedules and open roles. A preferred vendor listing puts you in front of them at the moment they are filling the seat you sit in.

$99/month once you are approved. Nothing is charged while your application is in vetting.

How it works

Three steps, in this order.

01

Apply

Business details, the trade or profession you work under, the states you actually serve, your licence and insurance, and three client references.

02

Vetting

We verify your entity, licence, insurance and references at the source — the issuing board, the carrier, the client — and record what we checked and when.

03

Membership

$99 a month once approved. Billing starts when you start it, not when you apply.

Payment does not buy approval. Vetting and membership are separate. A paying applicant who fails vetting is never listed and is not charged; an approved vendor who stops paying is unlisted but stays approved.

What we verify

At the source, never from a copy you send us.

A scan of a licence proves someone owns a scanner. Every item below is checked against the body that issued it, dated, and attributed to the person who checked it — so the date on your listing means something.

The checklistApplied to every applicant
1 Business entity in good standing
Registered and active with the Secretary of State, name matching the application.
2 Professional licence or registration verified
Current, in the applicant's own name or their firm's, and clear of restriction.
3 General liability insurance current
Certificate received from the carrier or broker, not from the applicant.
4 Workers compensation current or exemption on file
Required where the vendor has employees; sole operators may file an exemption.
5 W-9 on file
Legal name and taxpayer identification number, signed.
6 Three client references contacted
At least one on a project completed more than two years ago — that is the one that reveals warranty behaviour.
7 Disciplinary and litigation history reviewed
Board discipline, judgments, liens and a pattern of payment disputes.
8 Vendor agreement and conduct terms signed
Including the obligation to notify CoBuild if a licence or policy lapses.

Who can apply

Every seat on a project.

Attorneys, engineers, lenders and brokers sit alongside the trades, because a project needs all of them and an owner should be able to find all of them in one place.

Straight answers

When am I charged?

Only when you start the membership yourself, from your vendor portal. Applying and being vetted costs nothing.

What if I fail vetting?

You get the specific reason in writing. Nothing is charged, and you can reapply once the issue is fixed.

What if my licence lapses?

CoBuild warns you before the expiry date on file. If it passes, the credential shows as expired and the listing is pulled until it is renewed.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from Stripe's billing portal. Your listing runs to the end of the period you have already paid for.

What "preferred" does and does not mean. A listing records that CoBuild checked specific things on a specific date and that the vendor holds a current membership. It is not a recommendation, a warranty of workmanship, or a substitute for your own diligence, references and contract. Owners should still check licences themselves before signing. See the vendor terms.
